When did you graduate teacher training?
Fall 2002. Wow – 7 years already!

Why do you like it hot?
Because Marilyn Monroe does.

Do you remember your first class?
Yes. Feb 2002. My previous history of exercise was bending my drinking elbow and extending my smoking hand after supping on my nutritious dinner of Pringles and onion dip or bacon sandwiches and a pint of milk. Needless to say it was not pretty.

Why did you become a yoga teacher?
I wanted to involve my heart and not just my mind in my work.

Any tips for new students?
Buy a yearly unlimited, then relax, breathe and do what the teacher tells you to do.

Hey baby, what’s your sign?
Depending on which discipline you follow I’m a crabby hoggy blossoming lotus. However if I had my druthers, I’d choose the fidelity, long life, and vigilance of the crane.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be.

Beatles or Elvis?
Aerosmith.

What was your first concert?
I played recorder when I was 8.

Have you ever fasted?
Yes, although I have no big feelings for or against it.

How long did it take you to learn to lock your knee?
What’s that?

What’s your guilty pleasure?
In living a guiltless life. If I’m going to feel guilty, I don’t do it and I have a lot of say for guiltLESS pleasure – waaaay more fun.

If you were an appliance what would you be?
I would be an appliance. Is that a trick question?

Have you ever been to Burning Man?
Nope.

What’s the first music you ever bought?
Can’t remember.

Besides yoga, what do you like to do for fun?
I don’t split my life into fun and not fun stuff – I look to live joyfully in whatever moment is before me. I believe in the verb of living though and if there is action involved then I am usually happily humming away whether it’s cooking, drawing, archery or something else.

Describe your first kiss.
Me, the back of my hand and bon jovi playing in the background. It was phenomenal.

Describe your ideal yoga shorts.
One’s I can’t feel I’m wearing.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever done in class?
Told people to bring the weight into their balls. Oh, and there was that time in a back bend where I did actually go back, way back and then fall down backwards. I then sprawled across the floor dazed and amazed that this is what doing the posture properly was supposed to be.

What do you want to gain from your yoga practice?
Life is the dancer and I am only the dance. I do the yoga and let life express itself through me.

Why do you love SF?
Because I learned to love in SF.

Why do you love the Mission?
Who told you that I love the Mission?

Favorites:
I don’t do favourites – I love all my children, just in different ways!
